Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has come to the defence of manager Ruben Amorim, insisting the team has full faith in his tactical approach following their impressive 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, October 19.

Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire sealed a vital win for United their first back-to-back Premier League victories under Amorim — and moved them within two points of Arne Slot’s Liverpool.

Amorim has faced mounting criticism in recent weeks for sticking with his trademark 3-4-3 formation, but Fernandes believes the system is beginning to deliver results.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Fernandes - who provided the assist for Maguire’s decisive goal — praised the team’s belief and tactical discipline.

 “Our shape always gives teams problems,” Fernandes said. “It’s a bit unfair to talk about the system only when we lose and not when we win. We always believe in the system, whether we win or lose it’s about doing the right things at the right moments.”

The Portuguese midfielder also highlighted United’s resilience in the face of Liverpool’s pressure.

“We had moments where we had to suffer, and we did that together. The most important thing is to keep believing in what we prepare that’s what brings the wins.”
