Serie A giants Juventus have confirmed they are under investigation by UEFA for potential violations of the governing body’s financial regulations.

The Turin-based club disclosed the development in its financial report ahead of its annual shareholders’ meeting on November 7.

According to Juventus, UEFA notified the club on September 18 that an inquiry had been launched into possible breaches of the organization’s football earnings rule between 2022 and 2025, with a verdict expected in the spring of next year.

The club acknowledged that the investigation could lead to “a possible economic sanction... and possible sporting restrictions.”

Under UEFA’s current financial framework, clubs are limited to losses of €60 million ($70.1 million) over a three-year period. This threshold may increase by €10 million per year if clubs meet specific financial stability criteria defined by UEFA as indicators of “good financial health.”

Juventus currently fifth in Serie A with 12 points from six matches have had a mixed start to the season, recording three wins and three draws.

The club, which has been under the control of the Agnelli family for nearly a century, reported a €58 million loss for the fiscal year ending June 30, continuing a stretch of financial challenges. Juventus last posted a net profit in the 2016/17 season.
