United were strongly linked with the 21-year-old Brighton midfielder during the summer transfer window, but the club ultimately backed away from a potential deal after being deterred by Brighton’s £100 million-plus valuation.

Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler later admitted that Baleba was “affected” by the transfer speculation, which may have impacted his early-season performances.

According to The Sun, Mbeumo who joined Manchester United from Brentford this summer — has been encouraging his “little brother” Baleba to consider a move to Old Trafford in the near future.

The report adds that the pair developed a strong bond during the recent international break with Cameroon, with Mbeumo believed to be playing an active role in convincing the young midfielder to join him in Manchester.
